Which is Your Style of Dance?

What style of dance most matches your personality? This question is an interesting way to learn about our team members.

In this fun, and easy to execute team building activity, you’ll gather information about your colleagues in a musical way.

You can simply ask team members, “What type of dance best matches your personality?” or you can show them one of these colorful images to prompt them.

Dance Style
To learn about the personality of individuals on your team

Some examples of styles of dance might be the tango, line dancing, ballet, ballroom, free-style, hip hop, jazz, tap dance, folk dance, or modern.

Have some fun with this and play music to match a dance style or encourage people to demonstrate their style.

A twist on this activity is to ask the team what dance style best matches how the team works together. If the team is bigger than five people, split them into groups of three to four people and let each group choose the dance style(s) they think are the best match. Then, ask each group to report out. The style itself is not important, ask questions about the “why” they selected that style of dance to listen and learn how the team perceives itself.

Summary

Invite team members to share the dance style that best matches their personality or the team’s personality in this easy team building icebreaker exercise.
